40 Biblical References in Prophecy to Disprove Preterism

Scroll down for "time statements" rebuttal

Many Preterists believe all prophecy was fulfilled by AD 70. While I believe all of Matthew 24 was fulfilled in the sign of the Son of Man by then, shown at 66ad.blogspot.com, it was not the Resurrection. The second issue with Preterists is that they cannot separate Matthew 24 from the book of Revelation, which has an entirely different time scale involved; Matthew 24 being for those in Judea and AD 70 Jerusalem, but Revelation is a record through history, down thru these last almost 2000 years for the church.

The book of Revelation is often being referenced to 70 AD Jerusalem by Preterists, but the book of Revelation is addressed to the 7 churches (really church ages) of Asia Minor, 800 MILES AWAY, from Judea. They're not even addressed to the same people, yet Preterists are trying to cram it all into AD 70 Jerusalem/Judea, which is an obvious huge blunder.

Here are the 40 points I make, disproving Preterism from scripture.

1. Isaiah 11 - The wolf shall dwell with the lamb and the leopard with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together and a little child shall lead them.

This has not yet fulfilled, but Preterists want to spiritualize this away to continue to claim all prophecy was fulfilled in AD 70.

2. Isaiah 2:4 - And he shall judge among the nations and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their swords into prunning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn the ways of war anymore.

This clearly did not happen in or by AD 70 Jerusalem, even unto this year of 2025, as wars continue on.

3. Rev 6:8 - No power was given over ¼ of the earth to slay with death and hunger thru the AD 70 events.

4. No “beasts of the earth” as a means of killing people in AD 70 Jerusalem. It was just armies.

5. Rev 1:1 - “must shortly come to pass” was meant as just the start of prophecy beginning to come to pass, not the whole by AD 70. Word #1096 used in Rev 1:1 means "to come into being", meaning prophecy would just BEGIN TO START quickly.

6. Rev 1:3 – “for the time is at hand” for prophecy to begin to start, not the whole fulfilling by AD 70.

7. I John 2:8 – “this is the last hour” was the time expiring to the end of the age of Torah and the destructions that would come to end Jerusalem, not the end of prophecy or prophecy being completely fulfilled.

8. Rev 2 & 3 – There was no big idolatry problem in the 1st century church, but the 7 churches were meant to be church ages, down thru history. The 7 churches of Asia Minor were within 300 miles of each other, yet experienced vastly different problems. This shows they were not just static, but church ages. One was greatly persecuted, the other was not? Within 300 miles of each other and under the same Roman Empire government?

9. Rev 8:8-9 – no wars at sea, or on rivers in AD 70

10. No 1\3 of anything died in AD 70. About 99% of the Jews died inside Jerusalem.

11. Rev 9:4 – Romans chopped down trees all around Jerusalem (Josephus Wars Book V, 3:2) contrary to “not hurt any green thing”

12. Rev 9:5 – “not to kill but to torment 5 months” Josephus reports 1.1 million people were killed inside Jerusalem all during that war. They weren't just tormented, but all thru the war, were killed.

13. Rev 9: 8 – armies had “hair like women”. Romans were opposite, shorn and shaven. Unfulfilled in AD 70.

14. Rev 9:14 – “Euphrates” river is 535 miles from AD 70 Jerusalem. What’s that have to do with AD 70 Jerusalem?

15. Rev 9:14 – “Hour, day, month, and year to slay a third part of man” didn’t happen in Judea or Jerusalem in that time frame. Preterists say the “5 months previously” was the time, but here it says a an hour, a day, a month, and a year. Which is it Preterist?

16. Rev 9:20 – Jews were not idolaters as described here. Preterists can’t even identify the right people here.

17. Rev 11:13 – one tenth of the city did not fall. 100% of it did. Nearly the whole city of Jerusalem was destroyed.

18. Rev 11:18 – “destroy them who destroy the earth” was not fulfilled. Romans thrived after AD 70.

19. Rev 13 – no beast with 7 heads and 10 horns can be confirmed in Preterism. AD 70 destruction had already come to pass in the earlier chapters of Revelation. Is God redundant?

20. Rev 13:11 – 2nd beast unaccounted for in Preterism – watch them try to spiritualize this away.

21. Rev 13:17 – If all died in AD70 Jerusalem, there would be no one left to “buy or sell”. Thus, impossible for Preterism to fulfill this in AD 70.

22. Nero name is claimed to be 666 of Rev 13:18. They have to convert from Greek to Hebrew to get the 666 and is a defective count because they are using a defective title to Nero, removing the yod in Caesar, or else it would add up to 676, not 666. Not even Irenaeus or the early church referenced Nero to be the 666.

At my blog papacyofsin.blogspot.com, I show Ten 666 signs pointing to the Papacy as the man of sin, far more confirming than just a single defective 666 sign of Nero. And the forbidding of buying and selling by several Popish councils is on historical record. The buying and selling indicate economic activity, but in AD 70 Judea, no one was thinking about passing laws forbidding the buying and selling in their economy. It was just a war, not merchandising and economics.

666 Signs

23. Rev 14:8 - Jerusalem did not make all nations drink the wine of her fornication.” Fornication is code word for idolatry, The Jews were just the opposite.

24. Rev 16:2 – Grievous sore on those with the mark. No such thing in AD 70

25. Rev 16:3 – The “sea” was not even involved in the AD 70 Judean/Roman War. The Jews had no Navy.

26. Rev 16:4 – “Rivers” weren't even involved in AD 70.

27. Rev 16:10 – No “seat of the beast” (Rome) punished in AD 70

28. Rev 16:12 – “Euphrates” was 535 miles away from Jerusalem

29. Rev 16:14 – No “kings of the whole world” involved in AD 70

30. Rev 16:16 – No AD 70 Armageddon or in the Megiddo valley

31. Rev 16:19 – No Jerusalem divided into 3 parts” in AD 70

32. Rev 16:19 – No “cities of the nations fell” in the Jewish/Roman war of AD 70. Cities of the nations implores much more than just Jerusalem and Judea in AD 70

33. Rev 17:14 - No war with the Lamb in AD 70

34. Rev 17:18 – The “great city which reigns over the kings of the earth” was not Jerusalem in AD 70. It was Rome. Preterists are way off on that.

35. Rev 18:8 – No “plagues in one day” in AD 70 Jerusalem. The stand off took months, not a day, or a year if doing a day for year principle.

36. Rev 18 describes a city of great wealth. Jerusalem was poor, famine stricken and not a materialist center for trade and commerce, as described in Rev 18.

37. Rev 18:17 - No “sea” near AD 70 Jerusalem or known for “shipmasters” dwelling there.

38. Rev 18:23 – “thy merchants were the great men of the earth” not in AD 70 Jerusalem. “by thy sorceries were all nations deceived” not even close to Jerusalem. Jews outlawed sorcery and were very strict about it.

39. Rev 19:11 – No armies of Heaven in 1st century era or making war, just in the 66AD visions in the sky. No armies actually made war in the vision physically with anyone when it happened in the Spring of AD 66.

40. Rev 20 - Powerless Preterists 1000 reign of Christ on earth. No evidence at all to this.

While AD 66 was the supernatural sign of the son of man fulfilled, it was not a resurrection as the Preterists claim, but Matthew 24 was 100% fulfilled at that time. It was just the sign of the son of man to show the brethren to “flee into the mountains” to escape the AD 70 destruction coming. See 66ad.blogspot.com.

Preterists are looking really stupid to say almost all of Revelation is about the AD 70 destruction or the 1st century events surrounding Jerusalem. These 40 points made prove them wrong and in no uncertain way. Great conjuring, loose Lucy standards and hype must be applied to cram most of Revelation into or by an AD 70 fulfillment. Such nonsense is easily refuted.

However, the Preterists are taking the silliness of the Futurists and using it to their advantage. We Historicists rebuke both of these views, which reduce revelation to a shallow few years of prophecy. Because of the uneducated masses of Christendom, never having enough time to research history, including the vast majority of Pastors, Christendom is left bankrupt in understanding about the true record of prophecy, found at prophecybase.com, where your research is condensed, to learn the absolute timelines of Revelation and how the major events of history surrounding Gods people has been fulfilled thru that history. A great layout is also at prophecybomb.com.

You will either become teachable and relearn prophecy, or be corrected at the resurrection. But the worse part is when WW3, Revelation 18 soon hits, you wont be ready for it and will suffer needlessly because you did nothing to prepare for its sufferings soon to come. That is what is the sad part about all this, the mass starvation and desperation of the American people from WW3 on US soil because your evangelical leaders were the famous ignoramus that help you in a false security and now you will suffer because you did not believe God’s prophecies and witness for these end times found at ww3links.blogspot.com, to bring the WW3, Revelation 18 word to pass.

None the less, the 6000thyear.com, 7th millennial day, true sabbath, 1000 year reign of Christ will begin very shortly after WW3, which evidence points to 2028, so do the research and look up. Our redemption draweth nigh. Rejoice!

PRETERISM'S TIME STATEMENTS Rebuttal

Matt 10:23 - You will not have gone through the towns of Israel, before the son of man comes, (meaning his coming in AD 66).
Luke 9:27 - There are some standing here who will not taste of death before they see the kingdom of God ( referencing the AD 66 appearance or being born again).
Luke 21:22 - for these are the days of vengeance as a fulfillment of all that is written (all concerning Jerusalem, not all in prophecy).
John 21:22 - If it is my will he remains till I come, what is that to you (till I come = the AD66 appearance = not a resurrection).
I Cor 10:11 - ... on whom the end of the ages have come ( loose hyperbole, referencing those in the time of Moses).
Heb 10:37 - For yet in a little while, the one who is coming will come and not delay (66AD appearance esteemed).
James 5:3b - for the coming of the Lord is near (66AD appearance esteemed).
I Peter 4:7 - the end of all things is near (loose hyperbole/in reference to Jerusalem's destruction).
Rev 1:1 - The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place... The greek word used here is #1096 genomai, which means to come into being. In other words, prophecy would begin to start or come into beginning to start, not that all of it would be fulfilled at that time in history, like Preterists say.
Rev 1:3 - for the time is near ( for prophecy in Rev to begin to start).
Rev 3:11 I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have ( spoken to the Philadelphia church age, which in the 2000 year Revelation timeline, is closer to our end times, not first century).
Rev 22:7,12,20 - I am coming soon. Jesus is speaking this from the end of the 2000 year chronology timeline of Revelation, which is to his end time saints, not the early church. If he spoke this early in timeline of Revelation, the Preterists might have an argument, but the Lord is speaking from that end point of time, in the timeline. From that time in the timeline, his coming is very soon.

How Daniel 7s , four Beasts and Revelation 13:2 disprove Preterism

Daniel 7, 4 beasts describe Babylon (lion), Persia (bear), and greece (leopard) and even names them.
Since Rev 13:2 uses these same animals to describe its (previous) heads, then the 5 heads fallen in Rev 17 are not caesars, but are those kingdoms of Daniel 7. Using the same description is a pretty obvious evidence that the historicist view is the true view. This is further confirmed in Daniel 7:6, where it shows Greece was broken up into "4 heads." 2 of those 4 heads who ruled over Judea successively, were Ptolemaic Egypt and the the 5th head, the Syrian Selucids. The 6th was the Roman empire, the one is at the time Revelation was given. Whether Revelation was given in AD 65 or AD 90 matters not. That doesn't change the fact that Rev 13:2 uses the same animals as Dan 7 to describe the "5 fallen , one is" in Rev 17. The 7th was the Ostrogoths who became the established kingdom over1/3 of the empire right after the Roman empire. Then Rev 12, 7 crowns on heads, expire in Rev 13, with the Crowns now on the 10 horns, those 10 EU kingdoms of the Alan's, burgundians, franks, saxons, etc. The 8th doesn't come until after all of that....
HOW CAN PRETERISM get around all of this evidence? It can't.
